About Bonsai

Hello to all friends and bonsai lovers.

The history says that bonsai originated in China. When it was introduced to Japan, it became popular among artists, and spread around the globe. Bonsai is a small size tree that decorates and features as beautiful old tree in wildlife, but is growing in small and shallow pot. To achieve a realistic look of old tree, bonsai lovers should master some techniques of caring and training for it. For spectators whose have knowledge of the art of bonsai, would always enjoy and appreciate the beauty of the tree.

There are four main structures of a bonsai plant: base, trunk, branches, and leaves.

Base: the largest part of the tree. Those roots around the base play a very important role in making the tree looks ancient and majestic. As the root exposes, it makes the tree seems old and antique.

Trunk: the part from base to tip of the tree, starting large at the bottom and gradually getting smaller toward the top. If the stem, body of the tree, look aged and barren, it would create the impression of the old living tree, has been under the harsh weather. It gives the impression of a tree have been long time being endurance and erosion. The ancient, the aging look of the plant shows the bonsai tree at its best, yet, not so indicates the decline of the tree health. To look alive and healthy, the foliage must be green and blossoming.

Branches: the location of branches that grow in place to form a harmonious and balance for the whole tree. Starting from the root, the first branch is either at the right or left, in front or rear. Branches should not grow parallel to each other but grow randomly and zigzag. Those branches at the nearest base are long, and then shorten as they grow up to the top. They should spread steadily and no overlap or obscure the prospect of the trunk.

Leaves: they have to be green and healthy. Those unhealthy leaves should need more care and attention.

To achieve a grand look, a bonsai tree should have balance and harmony among base, trunk, branches, and leaves.
